  • Recapping Last Weekend

I was just reviewing the races from last week as I had a pretty good week and thought we might start a thread reviewing the races from the prior weekend and post before Saturday's races. I think it will be a good thread and all can contribute by volunteering and by having alternating contributors will get to know our community a bit better. So here goes.

Reviewing the races of this last weekend in January, one stables was a virtual standout for their efforts. Circle High Stables, one of the moderate size stable
and I think in their 3rd season or so had a three day weekend that we should all be jealous of. Circle High had 8 winners from 15 starters
with 10 in the money finishers capped off with a four bagger on Sunday in which Circle High took the first three races on the card .
Definitely the stable of the weekend.

Falcon Oaks was hot as the ole man saw 11 winners enter the winners circle from 35 starters and taking the Supertar Route with rejuvenated former
claimer Daytona Speedway who took control down the lane to outrun Bearly Dead and the fast closing entry from Grand Prix Stable The Sizzle.

In the filly and mare division of the series Turf Downs' Frontier demolished the field and won going away from Lacey Deb and others with the fastest
time of the two divisions getting the 1 1/2 miles in 233:11. Turf down had one other winner for the weekend and had a 60 %
in the money percentage from 10 starts.

Newcomer Top Stable had 2 winners from 5 starters with 4 of the five finishing in the money.

There were 62 races run during the weekend and there were 27 different stables getting to the winner's circle.

I was a great close for the month of January with a lot of participation by all and clearly an indication
that D/D is growing and the competition is getting stiffer.Just a start and blueprint for I hope to be a weekly thread
where we acknowledge stables successes and get to know the owners better as they contribute.

        Thanks

        Hey Falcon,
I appreciate the recognition. It was an incredible weekend last week, and I'm very proud of my stable. I was humbled by an 0 for 23 start on Monday through Thursday in the winner's circle, including an 0 for 7 completely out of the money on Thursday, but I understand that's the way it goes sometimes. We are improving, competitive, and meeting good people, and that is truly the goal.

I can't do a summary week (BTW, I think this is a great idea) in February due to guests visiting, and I'm going to Vegas on 2/21. But I'd love to do a recap summary sometime in March: I'm kind of a stats geek, and think I'd do a good job that everyone would enjoy. Let me know when you or DD would like me to fulfill that duty, and I'll do it.

The first full weekend in February was packed with 26 different owners getting their picture taken in the winners circle out of 57 total races for the three cards.

On Friday night, Aquaman was hot on the back end of the card with three winners and seven other stables had two winners on the card. Notably,Sparc Stables
continues their winning ways with two winners on the card and four total wins for the weekend.

Saturday night, Falcon Oaks starts out by winning three of the first five races on the card including both divisions of the 100k claimer sprints with Aqua Doc and
Ruby Road both winning handily. Aquaman Stable again dominated the back half of the card with three winners, all in claiming events.

In the colts division of the Thunder Downunder Turf Marathon,Ryan Express's Christie's Colt became the alltime leading earner with a
convincing victory in a very fast time of 232:25.CC came roaring down the lane to take control from Racing Downs' 29 Palms with stablemate Bearly Dead third.
Ryan's owner Rory takes down a little over $100 in purse money for his stables efforts in the race.

On the filly and mare side, Turf Downs' Frontier Lass totally destroyed the field coming from last to first in a time of 232:15 reminescent of
Billy's Royal Plan style of racing and the fastest time for this distance in quite some time.
Frontier Lass looks to just be getting better and more dominant and with some good mares such as Lacey Deb set to retire, the competition
needs to come from some of the young fillies as FL looks like she will be awfully hard to beat this season.

Sunday, Ryan Express continued with 3 wins on the card with The Box's Studs and Socal Racing each having two wins. Socal's Commanche Warrior and Mandas Dream
swept both of the 2yo allowance races on the card with back to back wins. Also running and winning on Sunday was Donovan's Stables great 3 yo Filly Val's Gone Wild
winning easily in a small field in a prep and Absolute Runaway's Titranium beating a very good field in a prep for this weekends Tracksider Mile. Both of these runners
are sure to be running this weekend.

The stable of the week has to be Ryans Express with 5 winners from 18 starters and passing a milestone with Christie's Colt.
Aquaman's six winners on the weekend deserves an honorable mention. Newcomers Circle High continues their winning ways and TC Farms
had one winner from four starters with all four hitting the board

That's it for last weekend and more exciting action is on tap this week with the 2yo division of the Tracksider Mils is on
tap with dominance in each division to be established and for the older horses the Super Star Routes at a 1 3/8 mile
which is sure to pit some of our favorite runners in this distance battle.

Again, I would like to continue this thread each week with others writing their summary on a volunteer basis so we
can get others perspectives on the game and get to know them better. So please volunteer by PM and we can schedule
          your week. Good racing All

Weekend recap Feb 13 and 14

Valentines weekend continued to showcase the fantastic increase in participation we have been experiencing this season with 21 of the 40 stables competing finding the winner’s circle in 37 racing contests. While Ryan Express scored 4 wins on Saturday, and Aquaman and Falcon Oaks were close behind with 3 wins apiece, on Sunday only Getting Lucky Lodge and Baryacki Racing visited the winner’s circle twice.

Weekend stakes action underscored the influence of the great Jumpin Jack Flash, represented in the pedigrees of 3 of the 4 winners including full siblings Nashville Pearl and Hide and Seek. Nashville Pearl captured her second consecutive stakes with her victory in the Tracksider Mile for 2yo fillies. Older sis Hide and Seek captured the Super Star Route to complete the filly and mare stakes double for Racing Downs, and then won an allowance race on Wednesday giving her a record of 16/11/2/0 with victories over distances of 4 furlongs to 1 3/8 miles. This filly has her sights set on a track record for 7 furlongs on turf, having never recorded a speed figure of less than 98 in 5 tries at that distance.

Shy Myth exacted revenge on Titranium in the Tracksider Mile for 2 yo colts and geldings. This is another horse destined for the records page with speed figures of 98 and 99 in his last two tries at a mile. The only stakes winner of the weekend not from the bloodline of Jumpin Jack Flash, could he be the next sire sensation when his racing career is over? Regardless, newcomer Grand Prix cemented his status as a competitive threat with a respectable 41.67% in-the-money percentage over the weekend and a smashing stakes win over a very competitive field. In the Super Star Route for males Mount Everest captured his first stakes win of the season, ending a 5-stake slump. This versatile Eliminator champ seems poised to become the next DD millionaire with earnings of over $844k in only 48 starts, and plenty of races left in the tank.

Racing Downs would have to be the stable of the week for capturing the stakes double. Congrats are also due to newbie Jhorse Racing for getting off on the right foot…er hoof in the maiden free ranks by capturing a victory with Hooves O’ Gold. Special mention to Pat of Donovan Stables for the third straight allowance victory for Val’s Gone Wild, increasing her racing record to 16/13/2.
