  • Season 23 Challenge

I have been busting a nut trying to get a yearling under 1:08 on the CAL 6f dirt track, the closest I have gone is 1:08.11. Can you do it?

If you are the first stable to register a 1:07.99 or better time for a yearling before 12.01am December 7th. I'll give you the Trunoble 2yo filly, Halo Zietta (currently #2) who has already qualified for the fillies SSS Sprint Final in December. She will get a decent paycheck for nothing, no matter where she finishes, along with the possibility being a better than average broodmare later on. Pretty good deal for nothing.

I guess if I was really really confident, I would offer Noo Teef but the odds are that there may be a freak that will do it (meaning horse not owner) .

Remember it is the CAL 6f dirt track only until the first minute of my birthday (U.S. time) December 7th.

Good luck Halo Zietta to nothing that you can't do it.

If you have the freak that did it, reply to this thread with the name of the horse. In the unlikelihood of there being more than one on the same day, I will ask admin to check which was the first, who will be declared the winner of the contest. Trunoble will still be trying to break through the barrier but should it be successful, the contest will still run until another stable can reach the target within the timeframe allowed.

    Cool contest.

My best ride today with Russin To Finiss came in at 108.08 with Rose onboard.

I think if I gelded a couple, I could make it happen , but Im not falling for LASMRONs tricks.

And I know I never jockey weight my horses, but to avoid any conspiricies, Im obviously doing it for the contest.

Someone better do it before Tuesday because I have a couple rearing to run wild.

Like you need another SSS Finalist

Very good Eric... I have 2 colts that can get down to those times. It will be interesting to see if it can be done.

Apologies to the CAL groundstaff. It must be a nightmare to get the track ready for the day's racing after all the 6f workouts.

Best of the day was Florida Farms "Russin To Finniss" in a slick 1:08.08. Close but no cigar.

As a means of full disclosure Death-Defying Kiss zipped 1:08.27 with Rose (104). Gonna be tough to break the 1:08 barrier.

FYI, I always use 120lbs for both colts and mares.

Good to hear from you Jamie. Looks like you have been busy busy again. Sucks when real life gets in the way of cyber life.

D-D K definitely was speedy but Eric stole the show again with Fantasy Land (1:08.24) just nudging out Brian's "Nerlens Noel" in 1:08.26 for Star of the Day Award.

            The task looks daunting.....

Quicker day with four getting under 1:08.20.

Polaris' "Goldstriker" was best of the day @ 1:08.14 edging out Foggy's "Twice Shy" by 1/100th sec.

This contest has left me scratching my head on a couple horses.
Blitzen worked out at 104 lbs with 100s across and went slower then with his regular workout at 118lbs with Garcia with the same adds and meters.
I thought he would be my best chance as he was working at 108:64 at normal weight.
He went 108:65 at jockey weight.

Im starting to think this contest may have unlocked the "hidden heart factor"

                  Back to testing.

Stine and I had one years ago that ran faster with 130 than it did at race weight. I remember wanting it to win a starter allowance because I figured once it won one it would keep winning lol.

I'm sure people doing this are already seeing that weight affects some horses more than others as the help file suggests. Not sure if that has anything to do with heart or just another one of those hidden factors that makes these horses so complicated.

Trunoble has thrown in the towel. 1:08.11 is the best we can do unless we break our code of ethics and use LASMRON Special Juice #69 (tm).

Back to normal weights for us.

Hopefully other stables will continue on the quest.

Halo Zietta runs today in the SSS round.

Too late, Florida Farms already has but the contest isn't about beating Trunoble it's about beating 1:08.00.

                            Interesting results yesterday:

Russin to Finiss (Florida Farms) does a repeat 1:08.08
String Theory (Trunoble) does a repeat 1:08.11

Are these their base figures expressed in time?

                            Who knows? Who cares?

                            The Quest continues....
