  • A Storm Is Brewing...

Hello to everyone in the forum. I am the typical newbie i guess u can say, although I do have some experiences on other horse racing games. I don't think that this setting is similar to the once i've plaid. This is becaue of the money involved. I have invested some credit to my stable and would like to know any advice to how i should go about acquiring a few horses for my stable. I do have the 2 starter horses and will be racing the 10th of this month I do believe i get the gist of the game. I've read a ton of the newbie guides and posts. I think i'm gonna like the game but i do need some help still on polishing some skills to get my horses meters in tip top form before race time. I am excited to be a part of this community and am a willing student to those who will be willing to help me. I am very happy and honored to be here and happy racing to all.

    Welcome Hurricane,

the newbie help guides you have read are a great starting point to learn.

Remember to be patient and try and have all your horses meters on or as close to 100 as possible. Try and get the top 5 jockeys on the premiership to ride if possible.

There is an auction once a month and there are always bargains to be found there, racing stock and breeding stock.

Also go through the claiming races fields, quite often you can pick up a handy horse from these races that will serve you well.

O h and beware of my Partner Norm, He is Veri Bad Man!!

    good luck

Thanks a bunch Nigel for your helpful advice. Could you tell me the date of the auction every month, or even tell me where i can find any information about the auction. Oh and I will try and avoid your partner if he is indeed bad heheh

        Hi Stormy One

This is the other half of GLL Enterprises.

The auction usually happens on the first weekend of each month. Auction nominations and bidding (ebay style) start about 10 days prior.

N1 passed on some pretty good advice, which kinda shocked me because just between you and me, he doesn't have a clue.

If you have read a lot of newbie posts you will notice the underlying theme is to be patient. Use the workouts for experimentation with adds (blinkers etc.) because you can trim down the times drastically with some horses.

And as Nigel pointed out, there are plenty of experienced stables willing to help you out at any stage.

Best of luck in the game

They are free. Click on your horse name on the main stable page, on the left there is a yellow tab "Accessories". You can add them or take them off at any time, except when final acceptances for a race are declared one hour before each race.

            There are 8 combinations to test. blinkers (b), shadow-roll (s) tongue-tie (t), b+s, b+t, s+t, b+s+t and none.

We usually test about 4 or 5 combos then give the horse a start, unless it is a yearling when we have a lot of time to test pre-season before it can be raced as a 2yo. We are patient but not 100%.

When working them, only change one thing at a time to isolate the better set-up. Sometimes it doesn't matter what you put on a horse, it runs much the same time. Try to keep the meters high 95+, use the same jockey, same instruction in your workouts, just change the adds one at a time.

You can spend a dollar and get the Vet's help with the meds. As much as people disagree with me, the meds don't help your horse run faster but they do help its recovery (meters) so that the horse is ready to race again in minimum time with high meters.

The May auction took place on Sat May 3rd starting at 10AM eastern time.

Horses were entered into the auction from the 21st of April through the 30th, I would anticipate the same type of time frame for June.
