  • 3rd Track Idea

I know a third track was in the works at one time. Not sure where that stands or how much progress has been made, so I figured I'd ramble a bit and throw out something I've been playing with for a couple of days. Or if a 3rd track is already in process maybe this could be a possibility for a future 4th track.

    Here is what I'm envisioning:

    1. Track would be a straight track. No turns. Why?

    A. Ease of programming. Would appear this would be easier to set up.
    B. Great tool for new/inexperienced players. It takes away one facet of planning in that it would lessen having to adjust instructions based on post position.
    C. I cant seem to find an example but as I recall the lugging out of a tired horse was more exaggerated. Another great tool for a new player

Example of one of the early straight track races.

    2. Track would consist mainly of 2/6/12k claiming races maybe a few maidens and low division allowances. Which would help open the card up more and give more horses a place to race.

    3. Post time would be 7:05 am. Would put us one step closer to the goal of 24 hr racing. Also would give players in other parts of the world prime time racing even if at low level.(Then the 4th track could be added to start at 1:05 am. )

    4. Unimportant but due to time can be modeled after British or Aussie track.

Just some ideas from me. Take that for what it's worth...

Sounds good and from my stand point seems like it could be very beneficial.

    Call it Flemington! Giddy up!

      Ascot

I love the straight track idea. With Belmont being 10f, the 6f races there are very biased towards post position with the short run to the turn.

I think all sprint championship races should only be on the straight track. This way you don't get the 12 hole with very little chance.

Ascot is my choice because the history, the time 7:05 am matches Europe time, and you can run up to a mile on their straight course.

Like the idea and a straight track up to a mile is a very good idea.
Don't know if it will get through admin though!

        PS
I have noticed that even some 4 fur races are starting on a bend putting a lot of entries at a big disadvantage

I m a traditionalist although I truly hate the PP bias at times, that certainly has improved though

Certainly didnt mean to give the impression that any race with a significant purse would be replaced/or move to the straight track. Just an idea for a noob track/ low level claimers.

              Tradition

There is nothing more traditional than Ascot and Newmarket.

I like the idea of moving championship sprints to a straight course.

I like the idea of a straight course like the ones you see in the UK. However, I do think that it needs to be more inclusive. If you are going to make Ascot then use it fully.

Use the straightaway for up to say a mile...but also offer races of a longer distance that do go around their turns, maybe even go up to whatever the max distance used in England (2 miles?).

Just my opinion. If you are going to bring in a 3rd track just don't bring in the one piece that is unique to it. Bring in the whole track aspect.

no foreign tracks, UNITED STATES only. why not just use a model of a straight track(modeled after a real life track ,or design a new track ) & name the new track DIGITALDOWNS PARK/RACECOURSE/RACETRACK/TRACK whatever you want.

Somehow it seems like the 1 horse still wins the most in the straight tracks now though, am I mistaken on this, because I am too lazy to do the research tonight.....tired
