I am not sure if this has been touched on or not seems like it was at one point or another but anyhow it seems like there are certain threads in the forum that would scare a new member from joining I myself know I would of thought twice before I join after reading a few of the threads floating around here nowadays. I was thinking someone could monitor the forums and have the right to remove threads that might seem threatening or offensive to new stables. What does everyone else think of this? well anyhow any ideals are welcomed

    it's a thought

I agree that something should be done. New members need to know that overall this is a fun-loving, welcoming community and that the game is fair.

It is, but it can look forbidding! Maybe set it, so that 2-3 people disapproving of it can have it removed?? Is that possible?

Im just worired things like that lead to a lack of free speech somewhat on the sight. Im sure anyone who is interested can look past a few posts. I dont want the possibility of something I say deleted because a few stables dont agree with it.

Maybe I have watched too many episodes of "Boston Legal" but I am all for free speech in any way, shape or form. I would have preferred the recent baseless accusations had not appeared in the "New Stables" section of the Forum and should have been transferred to another section whereby a newbie could decide for themselves after reading the ensuing debate, what is truth and what is false. It is admin's right exclusively to remove anything from the Forum or anything that is a detriment to the site, not the members.

Yes, 'free speech' is important. I do a lot of teaching, in different areas, to totally inexperienced people, and it is easy for a new person to get a bad impression/feeling when they are not familiar with the subject.

I think the other 99.999% of us here are presenting a united, friendly front.

Maybe the lawyers can back me up on this, but free speech laws dont apply to chat rooms and most of the internet. Perchance, Carl is a Red Sox fan he can ban all Yankees fans on a whim if he likes . The best way to act is as if you are in his living room. Would you being a guest go into someones house and act a fool? But Carl has been nice enough to let us argue a bit pertaining to the game hopefully for the better and has in the past taken action against those who just troll the site causing trouble. I like the idea of a forum monitor but in the end again its Carl's call.

Free speech and making trouble are two different things. While anyone has a right to state their concerns and opinions in the forum (that's what it's for) they do not have a right to make unfounded accusations and basically just cause trouble. As owner of the site, Carl has the right to delete anything he deems unfit for the forum. He also has the right to ban anyone from posting. I am for having a moderator if the abuse of privledges continue. Better yet, just ban the abuser(s) then we don't need a moderator.

I have no problem with monitoring what so ever. I was just making sure we werent going to leave it up to votes to remove threads, which of course can squeeze out ideas from votes from people who wouldnt benefit from them
