    Comments:

Battle Of Britain Only the one career start and wasn't disgraced when closing nicely 3rd to Ground N'Pound, THE GRINCH 5f dirt Mdn (btn nk) early in the season. That was a while ago and assuming that his fitness is ok, the distance will suit today. Must be considered as a rough show for his British stable from this good draw.

Junkyard Miss Looks the best of the fillies.. Only the 4 career starts but has won two already. 3 starts back narrow winner over U Devil Mooresy, Lady on Liquor 6f dirt Mdn. Followed this with a close 2nd to Prof Catfish 6f dirt Alw (NW2) before last start nosehair win over Wild Night's Dream, Catty 5f dirt Alw (NW2). Stablemate to the likely favorite Whack 'em, drawn well, should get the distance and a rough show.

Silver Stars Another filly who has won 2 from 4 starts. 3 starts back was plodding 9th (btn 3len) to WHOOSH 5f dirt Mdn when drawn wide. Then appreciated the drop in class, extra distance and got up by a very narrow margin when winner over Golden Valley, Pride of Macau 20K Maiden Claimer 9f dirt. Proved this wasn't a flash in the pan, when last start winner 9f dirt 20K claimer downing Money In The Bank and Female Fury. She certainly runs a good 9f which brings her into calculations but the query is whether she can match the colts and the rise in class again. Show.

Whack 'Em One of the season's best 2yo colts. 3 starts back never in it when down the track when 9th of 12 Honda Stakes when drew #11 behind Devcan, Count Chocula & Carpei Diem 7f dirt. Looked unlucky following start when 2nd to Derailed, Huckleberry (3rd) 9f dirt Open. Then last start given a test over this distance/surface when holding out Devcan, Rio Negro 9f turf Open in good time. Extra smart performer from a smart stable. Drawn ok and the toughest to beat.

Rio Negro Has a good strike rate winning 5 of his 10 starts. Last start was good 3rd to Whack 'Em, Devcan when tried to lead all the way 9f Open turf. Prior start was good win downing Sony, Case of Dynamite 10f turf Open. Draw isn't too bad and his chances of getting to the front look ok. If he doesn't burn up too much trying to lead, he will be a strong chance.

Lawn Jockey Only 3 racing starts for 1 win. First start finished fairly for a 4th of 6 behind White Lies 9f dirt 50K Claimer. Followed this with a powerful finishing win 50K Claiming Mdn defeating Smart Canvas, Philippoussis 6f dirt from the outside draw. Last start last all the way and well beaten behind White Lies 50K Starter Allowance 9f dirt. Appeared to be running on low fitness last start but even at his peak, his form doesn't show anything at the moment that can instill enthusiasm. Later.

Moondance Junky 2 wins from 6 starts. Has been running well in SA Class lately. 2 starts back was run down by Veri Veri BAd 7f turf 30K SA. Followed this up with an all the way win 5f dirt 30K SA beating home Psycho Stalker and Midwest Monster. Not drawn the best for a front runner and this appears a few furlongs too far for her. Not for mine.

Gone To Pot 1 win from 9 starts. 4 starts back won a weak 2K Claiming Mdn (claimed) beating Sal #2 9f dirt. Next start for new stable came home nicely for a 3rd of 12 7.5K Claimer mile dirt behind Captin Jack. Two starts ago, made up some ground in the stretch 3rd to Office Assistant 20K Claimer 9f dirt. Eye-catching run last start when 3rd to Red Pearl 9f turf 20K Claimer. New stable has a way with getting low claimers to perform at their best in Open races. I believe this stable just likes making me eat my words. Going to pass on this one too.

A La Creme Still a maiden after 5 starts. Very disappointing colt after some very stylish pre-season works. Has failed to live up to those efforts. 2 starts back tried to lead all the way when tiring 6th (btn 3len) behind Optimus Prime 9f dirt Maiden. Last start always at the rear coming off a wide draw, 7th of 9 behind Lunar Pearl 5f dirt Maiden, although did make up some ground in the stretch. This is probably a bit too far for him at this stage and would have to improve remarkably to be in contention. Passing.

Junkyarddog Handy colt who has won 2 from 8 starts. Last 3 runs have been a good run up to this event. 3 starts back tried to lead and finished a close 3rd behind Mark of Zorro, Pimp 6f dirt Alw (NW2). Then was a good 2nd to stablemate Royal Kansas 5f dirt Alw (NW2) and last start was a strong win downing And Teuful Too. Halfoscarhalfamazin 6f dirt Alw (NW2). Seems suited best by 6f but finished a creditable 5th in the Tracksider Mile earlier this season when only a length from the winner Huckleberry. Velez should get the extra distance out of him and will be a good place chance from a wide draw.

Speed Junky Promising Maiden filly who has changed hands more than Pamela Anderson lately. 3 starts back wasn't far away when 2nd to U Devil Mooresy 10f turf Maiden. Backed this up with another Maiden 2nd (btn 4len) 9f turf to Polished Gem. Last start dropped into a 20K claimer (claimed) and finished a fair 4th to Silver Stars 9f dirt. Sold recently from a retiring stable to the current one. Now a stablemate to Moondance Junky. Don't think SJ will catch the colts, even with the new jockey Rojas aboard, but she will surely improve after today's race.
