I wont go into my reasons for wanting input from anyone who wants to give it on this subject because I would be sure to draw some bad comments for them but any thoughts would be appreciate it.

We are actually working on adding this next month . we will do a bunch of 15k and lower claimers . 7f and lower . We have done some testing but cant duplicate what 50 different trainers will do in live racing . we would like some feedback from the community. Thanks and good luckAdmin. -
I like it. Although it will do nothing to help fix the post position bias, it will increase the chance of getting a favorable post or reduce the chance of getting an unfavorable post.Doing is the best way of sayingComment

I know I am new, and many other stables have been here for 3, 5, and even 10+ seasons, but here are my rookie thoughts...
I like the idea so much that I think you could eventually try to work it into championship finals or other big race themes....making the top 16 horse run in 2 heats of finals.
you could even run either a match race or top 2 from each heat to create a final-4 for the two winners (or top 4) of each heat. Of course, I am guessing this season is too late to change the game, and heck, it doesn't even have to be the championships... but any time of season, a tournament could be run. I looked back at some VERY OLD seasons' races, and there was some tournaments run 10-15+ seasons ago, looked like there were maiden tournaments, where the top 2 in each heat progressed on to the next round. VERY Cool.
Anyway, 8 is a GREAT number for tournaments, qualifiers, etc... You can always start at either 32 or 16, then 8, then whittle down in very nice even numbers for races.
And oh by the way, when I get post position 9 thru 12 in a higher quality sprint race, I don't even watch the race any more.... this would help alleviate some of that "over before it started" mentality.
One question - if you do make any type of changes this season, will it affect the finals and consos in any way?

I agree 8 would be a big Plus in sprints. But I do believe it should be done in Qs and finals also.. I understand it cant be changed right now. I also think That if player know that there is only 8 spots to be filled for the finals that it would increase field size thru out the Qs because then they cant slack off of Qs because of points needed to make the final 8..However Orb ideals isn't bad for some types of tournaments to be made I don't agree with 2 heats and the final 4 get in the finals from each heat. I still say the point sytem is the best for that part... But some type of tournament race for over horses might not be to bad...The King Has SpokenComment
Yeah I still think the point system must stay too....you are so right though...getting down to 8 finalists will most certainly get my nominations in early and often - good point. Won't be able to sandbag the off distances and that's good for the health of the finals overall. I agree with all of that

I for one would pay extra noms just to run races with smaller field, I have been here for a lot of seasons now and this is the glaring problem I have issue with, I don't care what anyone says, the outside post in a full field or even 9 or 10 runners is pretty much death unless you are the overwhelming class in the race, I know I going to get the remarks like I always do when I bring up something but what makes it more glaring to me is lane bias, but hey just my opinion.Comment
Not to keep this going but I just think that it also presents a bigger problem larger tables which I have nothing against I hope to be one one day can overcome this bias by mere numbers so it makes it harder for the smaller stables to break through in these races therefore making them less likely to stick around just my opinion but even the people who have defended this in the past seem to have been larger stables who had better talent that could overcome the biases a little bit more often than not because they're often the class in the raceComment
