  • 5K Claimer with a Thunder Bonus.

I have one breed left with my broodmare "Nikki Kon Tiki". Her previous 9 range from dog food "Proctologist" to a future Allowance performer "Tiki A La Mode". Rather than me take pot luck at breeding another from her, I thought I would sponsor a race with her last breed.

I have chosen the 2yo colt 5K claimer on Tuesday 11/22/05 Race #5.

The winning stable of that race can nominate which sire they want her bred with. Note: I have used Texas, Rakish Devil and Crocodile Dundee with her previously and they didn't amount to much. I will breed her with the nominated sire and ship it to the winning stable at no cost. Only condition is that I get to name it.

There is plenty of time to train and nominate your 5K "champion" colt. If the race is split, then it will go to the stable with the fastest winning time of all splits.

    Good Luck

P.S. "Proctologist" was nothing but a pain in the ass to work with.

Very nice Norm. If I win I know you'll put "Phyl" in the name. Right?

        Nice Norm old son.

What happens if the winner gets claimed?

But won't that make it that much more interesting? If a stable chooses to nominate a 20K or 30K claimer for this race, then that is the risk they take of it being claimed for 5K and of course there is no guarantee that the new horse will be a champ, whatever the breeding. There may be quite a few horses changing hands after this race, and probably a lot of scratchings once the race list is promulgated. It will be very interesting.

and Sal..... don't worry there will definitely be no "Phyl" in the name of the new horse whether you win, lose or draw

P.S. I won't be entering anything in the race btw

I entered my grey colt Uhu in your bonus race Thunder and he has 6 claims on him. :-(

I named him Uhu after the brand of glue and he is probably going to turn out to be a champion now. lol.

He was one of my two free horses I got when joining, along with my filly Sierra Foxtrot who recently finished 3rd in her first start. In Uhu's only start to date he ran a disappointing 5th (last) over 6f Alw 12000 on dirt though his number wheren't perfect (STA:90 STR:90 SPD:100 END:95 FIT:100). I guess I was just a little impatient in wanting to get my first starter in this game. I wasn't really thinking he would be claimed when I entered him in this race and I guess if this race was just any other $5000 claimer he probably would have slipped under the radar. I guess what everyone saw on his record was this- 17Nov05 Dirt 5f 1:00.86 1st. A minute flat for the 5f is pretty decent huh? (it was with 120lbs onboard and I selected to push from the gate).

I am actually quite sad that I am going to be losing my Uhu. Oh well. I will feel a lot better though when after 5 or 6 starts for his new owner he is still looking for his first win. lol. No actually I would love to see him become a stakes winner for his new owner. I hope he finds a good home.

What would make be feel a lot better though would be if I won this race and became the beneficiary of Thunder great generosity. I hope you win my Uhu Thunder. And maybe then if he does become something special in the future I could have my best mare serviced for free once he retires to stud?? lol.

Anyway for the upcoming race his numbers are all 100's bar strength which is down a bit on 96. Now I was wondering is some of you people that have been around this game longer than I have (that would be all of you) could have a look at the competition in that race and tell me if I have a pretty decent chance of winning the thing assuming all the opposing horses are 100's across the board. I mean if my horse has 6 claims on it and none of the other 8 horses have any that must be a possitive sign I am in with some chance. Would prefer strength was 100 though and he has never even seen turf before. ?? Go Uhu!

Should be a very interesting split.

You can never tell with surfaces. Some of them run like they are frollicking in the meadow whilst others run like the only thing they want to do with grass is eat it, or smo... . Or is that just Oneto?

                    thanks norm

I just wanted to say this was a cool idea, and after looking at the form I think I actually have a decent shot with full throttle. Looks like it could be pretty close between several horses. Should be fun, and I look forward to watching the races.

Yep Full Throttle has a good chance. There are quite a few chances out of the 18 that are nominated. If I was pressed to make a selection, on previous timed runs, I would lean towards Showtime's "George". He has had a lot of starts but his last two over the distance/surface have been sub 1:01. But as Andrew pointed out in a previous post, these hayburners can put in a bad run for no seemingly logical reason.

The best Thunder luck to all who have entries. The winning stable can either tell me their choice of sire in this thread or PM me and after the breeding, naming and teary goodbye's, the newbie will appear on the Sales Page reserved for the winning stable.

Good luck again, it looks like it will be two closely fought out heats (race 5 and race 15).
