Congratulations to Russ of Sparc Stables on securing the TC colt for 51000 credits....you would have to think that prior to the "gift 20" he might have fetched at least twice maybe 3 times that amount

Good luck Russ, i hope he makes the stables that did not bid kick themselves after he carves up the track

      cheers,

      Nige & Norm

            ?

Do we really have examples of unworked yearlings bringing $150? He has a full brother whose best was 1:09.46. Of the 46 colts that were entered in the eliminator this year with published 6f works, 22 were faster than 1:09.46.

Russ- good luck. I hope he is a champ for you. And thanks to GLL for putting him up and having the contest.

              Yes we do....

back we myself and norm were a boy, one of the games most mysterious and crafty players ever seen had the games greatest, yes greatest ever colt. His name was Gunner and his horse was Pension Plan.

When Gunner retired Pension Plan, the early breeds he produced were all open class SS type colts and fillies.. they were like ferrari's, everyone wanted one.

I do not remember the mare, but gunner bred PP to her a few times and the resulting offspring all ran like hell.... He then bred to her again a couple more times and put them up on the sales page at around $200 if i remember rightly. They were snapped up quicker than hot soup on a cold night.

He then sold PP with 22 remaining breeds to a couple aussies for $600

                Fair enough

I was remembering this afternoon that Gunner put some unworked JJF's in the auction when he sold out, and those brought good prices. I wasn't here when PP was about so I didn't know about those. For sure Russ shouldn't have any trouble earning a nice profit on his investment, and I wish him well.

I have always maintained that a good Create will beat a good homebred in this game. @ 51K, Restless D'artaix (sp?) is probably good value and should recoup Russ' outlay after a few races. However, there are a lot of speedy Created yearlings waiting to pounce next season. I was sort of hoping that their works were freakish and they couldn't live up to it on the track. From recent racing, the 2yo Creates are performing to expectations. The game is going to go completely upside down, with the homebreds as the diamonds in the rough to win Stakes races. The site's main income has come from breeding and this will dwindle for a couple of seasons until the "Gifted 20" become breeders themselves. I just hope DD can survive until the breeding program picks up again.

                  Just my random thoughts

I agree to a point with these creates causing a little problem, but i only have 45 horses and will need many more to ever compete for a title.I know i will have to turn to breeding to get most of them so i plan to spend some money in the next few weeks on breeding. My problem is i dont have the breeders.I would like to see some better bred horses .It seems ever time i have a horse that i breed that trains well does not race well.Look at Call to Arms ,He trained like a wolrd beater but can not compete on the track and i have a ton of horses i can name that trained well but can not compete on the track.Of all the horses i have bred i only have 1 open class horse and no stake grade horses at all .And i have bred to some very very good horses.I would love to see a higher precentage of bred horse turn out better on the track.Way to many just fall by the way side.

                    Thanks
