I was wondering if there is anyone or a few members who can collaborate or vote on either a top 5 or top 10 list for top horses here at dd. For example the Daily Racing Form has a top 5 list showing a poll of the top 3year old colts/fillies that are currently active. Some of the other categories i remember them having is polls of the best 2 year olds male/female, top sprinters , top turfers and so on. I was thinking maybe we can have, say top 5 list of 3year olds and up(one male one female, a top 2 year old list(1 male & 1female). Something along those lines. This way some of the newcomers just joining have an idea of who's who and which horses are best and its just something i think everyone would like the polls can be updated every couple weeks or once a month. Let me know what you think of this idea and if there is a way to tweak it or anyway to get it up and running.

Hey cut me some slack its my first good one in about 3 to 4 seasons but seriuosly though i always was curious about some of the better horses here and just looking at the auction i saw a few horses that i had never heard of and there stats were amazing not only that but with the eclipse awards just being awarded the other day I think it would be a fun thing for everyone to see these lists especially the newbies. I know we already have the money earnings list for horses on the season and the wins leader but sometimes that doesnt tell the whole story.

my 5
christies colt - as a runner if he throws babbies like he ran he will be a top sire. vals gone wild - had the best 2 year old season i ever saw i have not been here but 7 months but iam sure the old school players will agree..frontier lass-you have to put her in the top five being claimed for 10k and setting a track record and multiple stake winner. hide and seek - the legend killer is what i call her she will be a great mare but i like the way vgw fought back and took her thrown back . these two will give us some great races to watch in the future. iam going to step out on a branch for the fifth horse here and say you will see her running against vgw and hide and seek saturday i think she will be a great mare ....WOODVILLE STABLES....TEXAS........THE HOME OF CHAMPIONS

As no one as mentioned her ill have to.
Laura Manchester bought for 2000 in a claimer winner of.
The Matron Mile beating Blue Bonnet and Frontier-lass.
The DigitalDowns Oaks beating Frontier-lass Blue Bonnet and Auntmom.
Me thinks she is worth a mention.
RegardsSpeed doesn’t matter as much as direction.

Ron,
At least you got one horse correct.
1. Christy's Colt (6H) - 38 wins in 97 races for $1.29 m in earnings. Second in lifetime career earnings and winner of eight stakes races from 1m - 1 1/2m. Holds a track record at 1 1/4m BEL turf. Outstanding pedigree as both parents were very nice. Also, check out the dam, she was once in for $2k. DOH!!
2. Flash Dancer (6M) - 26 wins in 54 races for $996k in career earnings. Winner of nine sprint stakes and over hald of her lifetime races. This dominant speedy mare is well bred out of the aforementioned Jumpin Jack Flash.
3. Frontier-Lass (4F) - wins in 18 of 35 races and $615k for her career. This rags to riches router has won seven stakes all at 1 1/8m or longer. Originally claimed for $10k in a race won by Dancing With Angels (only win in her career). Holds a track record at 1 1/4m CAL dirt. Pedigree is interesting as she's out of a Hunting With Blanks (Catfish Hunter) who was an outstanding racer.
4. Bearly Dead (7H) - winner of 41 of 94 races and $831k in career earnings. This seven year old has only won two stakes, but part of the problem is the older male router division is very deep. Pedigree seems solid as the sire did win a stakes race and the dam was a solid 50-75k racer.
5. Christmas Horse (5H) - winner of 22 of 42 races and $492k in his career. This "created" horse is the quick thing going and one of the few horses who can clear the field from an outside post at 5F. Winner of four stakes races against solid company and only missed the board in 5 career starts. No factor past 6F and shaky beyond 5F, but this speedball has lead in most of his races at the first call (36 of 42 races).
6. Val's Gone Wild (3F) & Hide & Seek (3F) - The two dominant 3yo fillies of the game. VGW (winner of 10 of 12 races and $376k) and H&S (winner of 7 of 9 races and $220k) have only lost to each other thus far in their career. Need to see how they fair against their elders. Prefer VGW 1m+ and H&S 7F or shorter.
As far as 2yo colts go I would say the best thus far has to be Extra Fast. He won the finals of the Eliminator and the Nutmeg at 6F and $170k in three lifetime wins. Not ready to annoint him the best sprinter / two year old colt yet and all three wins come with the rail draw. Shy Myth has yet to do anything wrong, but hasn't faced the level of competition yet.
Just my opinion,Last edited by Aardvark Stables; 01-22-2010, 12:10 AM.Jamie

no, but
No,
on the contrary! Amazed that he is the best breeder in the history of DD, with no existing foals. Now THAT is truly amazing!

Nice call Daff we'll have to wait and see. He is getting the best mares as apparently he has a certain pecking order so there should be no excuses for failure.
