  • New Friday Night Card

Let's put our minds together and create a new card for Friday night. Friday nights have been dead forever. For the input to be meaningful, it needs to account for the already existing races on the other weekdays (which follow an obvious pattern).

    I'll start:

    (1) No Open Allowance Races on Friday nights. There are plenty of those on Saturdays, Sundays, and Wednesdays. Removing Fridays will help the fields in the remaining races and push some of the others into 100K claimers.

    (2) Races 13-16 should be 2K claimers for horses that have not won a race in one month.

    (3) I would also like to see some type of cheap-claimer "senior circuit." For example, 2K claimers for horses 5yo and up.

I agree Friday night need some work.

I really like the idea of a seniors circuit of races, will keep horses in the game longer.

As far as allowance races, I also agree, Saturday night should be your big night of the week, SS races and allowance races. No need for them on Fridays as well.

Maybe add a few more Starter Allownce races on Fridays as they usually draw good fields.

Have not really been here long but for what its worth I really like all 3 ideas and in particular 2 and 3.

Number 2 id really like to see alot more of. I find it very frustrating there are so few conditioned claimers in genneral. Jmo but there should be many more nw claimer type races every night.

Any kind of series races are fun it wouldnt have to stop at just older horses you can run series for nw3 at time of entry or whatever.

Funny as I was thinking the same thing about how to revivie Friday night racing and make it an exciting evening on the card.

First , I think a series event for claiming sprinters with an enchanced purse structure and entry fees be part of the change.Series would be for 3yos only and 4yo and up divisions. Again, series for 2k,5k and 10 k sprinters with top 10 earners in points advance to a minor stake with weight allowances at the seasons end. Say 2k horses purse 2500k with 2000 entry, 5k-3500k purse w/3k entry and 10k-5,000k with 4k entry. Eligibility would be as a starter allowance having to have started at the entry level or below. In that we have a optional claiming option each owner could decide whether his horse is eligible for claim. Vary distances from 5f to 7f each week. 12 races total each week.

Second, Newbie starter allowance stakes for middle distance horses held each week for 10k and under starters. 5k purse with 2k entry.
One race for fillies and mares and other for colts-7f to 1 1/8 distances. Limit to trainers with lifetime wns of 100 races and under.
              Two races each week

Third, Conditioned allowance races for 2yo both divisions that progress as season progresses from NW2 to Nw of 5 races,
Four races each week-1 sprint and 1 route for each division.

Fourth, 3yo and up claimers for for both divisions at 7.5k and 15k levels at a
distance of 6f and 1/18 one week and 7f and 1 1/4 the alternate week
              Four races total.

Fifth,30k starter allow route and sprint for 1 division and 20k starter allowance for 20k for other division 2yo and 3yo only. Four races each week

Sixth, Jockey death match race- 2k Older horses 5 and up with weight allowance based on lifetime earnings with jockey who finishes last
rides his last race ever at DD. Restricted to jockeys not in the top 20 in races won this meet. Held every other week.
Good chance to kill off your favorite riders.

Anyway, thought I would offer some concrete options for you guys to critique and make additional suggestion. Falcon

                  racing friday nights

i would like to see races for each different age group,

                  only 2 yr olds
                  only 3 yr olds
                  only 4 yr olds
                  only 5 yr olds
                  only 6 yr olds
and 7 yr old and up

                  just a thought.

                  thanks ,doug

Hate to sound like a yes man here but I like every one of your ideas Falcon

Being a newbie myself I really like that idea alot. Im in .

Third, Conditioned allowance races for 2yo both divisions that progress as season progresses from NW2 to Nw of 5 races,
Four races each week-1 sprint and 1 route for each division.

Im a big fan of this also. You could also run them Nw2-4 with a weight allowance to the nw2-3s that may draw more into the race.
