I prefer the 4 month season. I still have two year olds that have not reached the track yet. I think I would feel rushed to get horses to the track. Just my two cents.
I think the game will dramatically improve if the season switches to 3-month. I think the change will help entering stables and budget stables by creating additional options for fund allocation. And it will raise the excitement level for all. By month 2.5, Fields dwindle. Horses run often and have sorted themselves out. The game starts to become stale, and interest wanes. It's happened every season for 2 calendar years.
Because maidens and conditionals are available for older horses, I won't feel rushed about getting horses into races at 2. Some horses just won't be quite ready until they turn 3; no penalty for running a 3yo maiden--and 3yo first-time starters are not rare in the real. Nor will shortening the season lesson a star horse's earning potential; that horse can run just as many calendar years, which will simply translate into an extra DD-year or two. Shortening horses won't require any extra funds -- stables on a budget can still breed just as many horses per calendar month. Because DD aging seems much more dramatically effected by (1) races run and (2) calendar time than (3) DD age, there seems to be little to fear but change.
Indeed, if the DD Admin is willing to offer the same sponsored races each season, and if the seasons recur more often, more money will be added to more races more often.
I would like a 3 month season as well. I remember it seemed to take forever for my first season to end so that my newly-bred yearlings could hit the track as 2yos, so I think it might be especially good for newbs and/or anyone rebuilding their stable after a break.
I've advocated a three-month season for some time now. It just seems like this site would be even more fun if most races scheduled each day made and most of them were full or nearly full. We are just into month 3 -- almost half the season remains -- and tomorrow night 7 out of 22 races scheduled did not make and of the 264 available posts, 164 are empty -- we filled only 100 (37 percent) out of a possible 264 posts. And we all know it ain't gonna get any better come August 1. Where are all of you who insist on the four-month season -- we need another 100 of your horses entered?
yall big stables cant rule everything, i have to wait, and spend entry fees, just so yall can break maidens on twenty horses better than mine. at least in the last month of the season my horses have a chance. if i could breed 100 horses every season, i would be all for a 3 month season. but i cant do that , and if that is what it takes to play this game, i'll kill all mine and leave, when my account is empty.
Adding fuel to the fire regarding large stables wanting to dominate the game. GLL votes for the 3-month season.
If McDonalds, Burger King and Wendy's came up with an ingredient that would revolutionize the hamburger by making it more flavorsome, healthier and more economical, I wonder how much uproar it would cause from the average diner. Just curious.

This has been talked about before most dont like it. I DONT LIKE THE IDEA OF A 3 MONTH SEASON. And can i say that what some dont like about a 4 month season is the reason why other stables do like about a 4 month season and need to make their stable a success at least for them . Also where will it end after a while a 3 month season is too long then what a 2 month season? Just my in put. I will support whatever Carl does with this game and i always have .
Good Day ALL

Yes, we have been down this road before but we keep coming back to this issue because those who support the 4-month season (1) have yet to refute the critiques of the 4-month season (for example, the advantage for big stable - disadvantage for small stables critique) offered by those who want to change it, (2) have yet to justify why it's better for the game to have a third of the scheduled races fail to make and for 63% of the posts each day to be empty for the last two months of each season, and (3) have yet to provide a factual basis that justifies the few concerns that have been expressed.
Pro "4-monthers" help the rest of us to see it from your perspective by providing a persuasive explanation of why 4 months are better and why the problems we've identified are really not problems. "If it ain't broke" is non-responsive because we've identified specific problems -- show us why these alleged problems are good for the game.
Then, we would not need to re-visit this issue each season.
