  • Twins in same race...no sorry,its BULLS*HIT

I was making my regulation study of the raceform for for RACE 1 tommorrow(JAN 30).I have a 2YO racing called LORD NELSON who is not showing a lot of talent at the moment.BUT,in looking at the opposition I FELL STRAIGHT OFF MY STOOL AND WAS FLAT OUT ON THE CARPET WHEN I NOTICED MY HORSE WAS RACING AGAINST TWINS!.....Well,sort of twins! 2 of them were out of the same mare. While this is very possible in the world of equine reproduction, what's not possible is that 2 foals born in the same season can be by different stallions, and that is what has happened here!...I will climb back onto the STOOL and take you further.Race 1 JAN 30,a horse named AWESOME TREASURE is by Bronco Billy out of the well credentialled racemare BIG ED'S KEYCHAIN and was bred by the good folk at Cannorth stables, who still have ownership and racing rights.Another 2yo in the same race is TRITONS CHAIN,a handsome individual by Triton,..but STRIKE ME PINK,out of the well credentialled racemare BIG ED'S KEYCHAIN.And,low and behold this one was bred by,and is raced by Vagabundo....SO here is what lie's before us...1 BIG ED'S KEYCHAIN has two offspring in the same season...2 Both foals are by different sires...3 Both foals were born on different properties....4 Both of them are bred, owned, and raced by two different operations(cannorth/vagabundo)..In the real world this CANNOT happen. Can some enlightened person or D/D bloodline expert offer an explanation as to how this has happened.I beleive this will open a HUGE can of worms,2 profile stables breeding from the same mare in the same season, with different sires on seperate studs just seems to be extraordinary....probably wont matter in the end,but in a game where we are trying to mimic reality it looks a little unreal....BUT im sure it will make a great conversation piece!....Check it out.Race 1 tommorrow JAN 30.....Bye 4 now

      Willing Suspension of Disbelief

      Shane,

I certainly understand your amazement at some of the loopholes of the game. In fact BIG EDS KEYCHAIN was bred I believe 6 times over a period of 2 days. 2 of those were done in a matter of minutes...I guess you could say twins by Oscar the Grouch. On one hand I want the game to be as close to real as possible, but on the other if mares were limited to one breed per season there would be a shortage of horses running and probably and even bigger shortage of quality mares that are even worth breeding to and I'm sure a lack of interest of a lot of players that produced a few duds and have to wait idly by until the next season for even a shot at a winner. I guess this is why you can breed during the season and bam you have a 2 year old ready to race in just a few days. I think there are a lot of aspects to the game that are completely absurd and unrealistic, but at the same time while being unrealistic they make it a little more user friendly and players are able to enjoy the game more and stay interested. I guess you have to draw the line somewhere. I guess it could be more realistic in some manners but I'd bet most people wouldnt want it. You could pay an outrageous breeding fee breed yourself a monster looking colt then log on the next day to find it gone because it got sick and died. No horses get injured in the races. Jockey's dont throw races (well that's debateable).
I don't know an incredible amount about real life horse racing but I'm willing to bet that a stable with 100+ horses has more of an overhead of $8950 in what would equal 3 months in hired help, feed, water, and transportation I'm willing to suspend some disbelief of unrealistic traits of the game in order for some amusement and I'm guessing everyone else is or they wouldn't be here.

You know what really irritates me about the game not being realistic? When i'm watching the races on Friday night I cant find any place that sells beer and chili nearby.

OK,boys..I'll cop your reasoning fair on the chin. And Brian, your clear thinking and intuition are just one of many reasons why I enjoy D/D so much.I dont mind that you can breed a mare several times a season,it is fair ground for one and all.I have learned a new facet of the game this morning,I would not of dreamed that you could breed this way...and therefore may have been denied opportunity./thanks for replies and good luck.By the way,I do agree 100% about the beer and chilli, there are just some things that will never be same as the real thing!

Oh so many eons ago, when I was a wee lad, when my total education was provided by Sesame Street, I remember a very instructional segment called "Which one doesn't belong". They gave you 3 items and you had to pick which was the odd one out.

Shane, you just gave me a flashback to those days in your previous post. See if anyone else can spot the odd one out, I can.

            1. clear thinking
            2. intuition
            3. Brian

Now that definitely isn't realistic to group those 3 together!

              Beer & chili, sounds good!!!

You can unrealistically breed the same mare 10 times on the same day, to the same or different stallions.

I think this time around, I bred each of my better mares twice. "Proven Producers"

                  I'm a pompous ass

I don't know where to start. I've pondered for several minutes giving my clear thinking and intuition a chance to digest the thoughts that have come before in this post. I have however began to see several clear themes and ideas that are repeatedly posted on this forum, but only one requires attention at this time and thought would be the immense amount of jealousy by certain other stable owners towards your humble scribe, me. The main question that is arised by this is why? I believe firmly that there are several reasons for this.

First, obviously, my horses. With such fantastical breeds as Playa Del sol, perfect square that I bred myself and Sweet Sunset that I managed to steal from Bugger Butts, it's clear to see that a lot. No almost all stables are simply bitter that I have such great horses gracing my stables with their near perfect manure that smells like a fresh blend of lilacs and roses. Speed ratings in the mid 70's and low 80's and a perfect winless record. Now there's a reason to complain that the game is not realistic. I'm sorry for those that don't have such great horses in their own stables.

With such great horses it stands to reason why I have elevated myself to that monster 9.5% winning percentage that I hear is so elusive. Winning not once but maybe twice a week has other so called super stables clammering to attack me and my character. I am not a crook. I am not nor have I ever been affiliated with the digital mafia. Now i said I when I started this that I would not name names but I'll stray from the norm for just a minute and dig way down under my moral status to respond to those who would try to verbally abuse me. All I have to say to them is Nah nah nah nah boo boo.

And last, I must bring to light that I can not help my handsome good looks, charming wit, and keen sense of the horse industry. I am constantly reminded that no, we can't all be perfect, just me and that's the cross I bear no matter what endeavor I undertake and will leave it at that. I'm sure this post will anger some people especially if they don't understand and can say that if it does anger them then they deserve it. Nah nah nah nah boo boo.

Now I will take leave of you before I can't get my inflating head out of the forum.
