  • New Race Idea!

Hey guys, I got a suggestion about a new form of race. The last two weeks I've been breeding like crazy and coming up with some very good horses. Problem is they fall short a few seconds to being the horse I need to run the high-end stake races. Some I geld and a few I didn't but might do it after I give the horses a few races. I've noticed most of the top runners have been geld and not just by me. I think we can slow down the gelding buy having races for horses that are not geld. This would make most of us think twice before we snip a good breeder. The cup races would stay the same of course. These races would need a good size purse to get attention. It would be a whole new ball game for breeders. just my thoughts, what do you guys think?

I think a lot of us have already "thought twice" about gelding, and if you look at the early top money winners this season, at least the top 2 males are Colts not Geldings. If you look at the top 10 money winners from last season, there are more Colts than Geldings. Gelding is over-rated for Champ-level horses, IMHO.

      WC Ranch,

I have a separate tab with all of my 4 year old & up horses that I could retire to breed at any time..... I don't like to retire 3 year old colts any more.....My winning percentage went down a bit with this new strategy, but I am spending FAR less money on other people's breeders, as I have nearly 100 breeders of my own.....I am trying to build my own bloodline success stories, and with breeders like Orblivion, it is cool to see this create breeder as a solid....not spectacular, but very solid nearly 24% winners (68/286) and over $1 million breeding bloodline, with 15 breeds remaining yet, and only 5 years old. I have many others, but this one is my personal favorite.

Until I experienced my own bloodline creation, I gelded FAR too many, and now I try for more balance........ I have Explosive Orb running Saturday, and this one I gelded & shows ridiculous numbers...... but no breeding will ever come from him......

Anyway, in my Breeders tab, I RARELY put these horses in ANY type of race where I can lose them..They are already eligible, so I protect them via nominations into non-claiming races, or claiming prices that warrant serious consideration given the public talent of the particular horse.

We can always do some of these races as password protected so everyone knows the rules going in. If they are popular enough perhaps you can convince Freddie into putting the resources into programming it would require.
