  • Taking A Break

Heading interstate during the week and it is a good opportunity to take a break away from the game. It takes a lot of time, effort and money to stay on top of the heap and I find I am lacking in all 3 areas currently. Hopefully a change of scenery for a while will spark up my enthusiasm when I return. Good luck to all for the rest of the season.

Hurry back to try to retain your title..... I don't think I ever bred this many, with 6x better current-season breeding quality, and every time I get winnings, I bred superior quality breeders in most instances....and so the urge to use purse winnings for breeding is killing me financially. I have to be more disciplined and just stop breeding until next season....I would probably be more satisfied But yes, 60-70% or more of the pedigrees I am using are LIT UP with 15-20 gold and silver stars, using the typical stallion-mare formula pertaining to speed and endurance+stamina. deep on each side.

      Stallions:
      Ribot
      Q to the Max
      Pleasant Tap
      Orbscription
      New Zealand
      Lexington Lad
      Battle at Normandy
      Pleasantry
      Sleepytime
      Varys Vouch
      Orblivion
      War Story
      Netherlands
      Italy
      Spain

      Mares:
      Road to Lexington
      Caribbean Addy
      Corn Hustler
      Elf Help Group
      Tiffany Case
      Sugar Me Hank
      Swift Silk
      SS Pearl
      SS Cant Touch This
      SS Am Fast
      Quick Stuff
      Midnight Heirloom
      Fast Folks
      Guadeloupe
      Kiribati

So these 30 Breeders are in my judgment damn good breeders I have been using, getting about 1 in 8 to 2 in 10 that MIGHT run 1:09.29 most of the season.

However, with so much on my mind, I am just trying to finish the season....hopefully top 5 in wins too

****Final EDIT *** Oh yeah, I am COMPLETELY OUT of useful Mares... I am not even through month 3, and I have to pay public fees for mares. and a couple of my stallions are at their limit. Both through a combination of using them, issuing freebies to people down on their luck, trading them, selling them, and paying old debts of free breeds

It was only a matter of time, Eddie. As you know, it takes a lot of time, effort and money to be Top Dog. I have the horsepower and the funds but lack the most precious resource, namely Time to spend on the game. Time to nominate, time to analyse each race, time to 'predict' the outcome of the race, time to work out where flaws are, time to set the next batch of horses, time to breed more etc. etc. etc. I had it for half the season but it finally ran out. The best I can do for the rest of the season is to nominate horses in spurts and leave it to the DD Gods to give me positive results. Hopefully I can hold on to second place but I fear this may just be a fantasy with Greeko and others not that far off overhauling me in the latter weeks.

I admire your commitment to the game, you deserve to be #1.

Ok back home again, sorting through tabs and tabs of horses to try and keep in Eddie's slipstream at least. My Achilles Heel is the Midnight races where I am sadly trailing by 70+ wins. Hopefully I have time to patch up the shortfall or at least keep pace so there isn't a blowout there. Also will have to keep a check on my time online and suppress offline chores otherwise I will need to get in contact with Orb's divorce lawyer.

Looking forward to the last month but fear that the inevitable onrush of Taryn and Taylor inspired steeds.

Dang i thought you were already back cause every day I open up the lead at midnight then by the end of the day I am ahead by one. I hate to think you're going to focus on the midnight races now. Plus a few wise stables have been pickin off some of my cheaper claimers, so I may have to breed a few to have any chance to keep the lead (bet lone likes the thought of that).
                Good luck at the races,
                Eddie

How come I feel like I have poked the bear? The afternoon session was a disaster for me as you racked up winner after winner. Fingers crossed I can grab a couple of cheap wins with the night card.

15 Shows in one day Norm? Dang, that's not a profit, just racing to get your money back (or not lose as much)!!!

I just PM'd you - it's important, re: breeding, etc...

                    Good luck,

I give you both a lot of credit for the amount of time and energy needed for the volume of horses you run. I personally am looking forward to the end of the season so I can take a break. It can't come soon enough. After a while it becomes more like work than fun. Good luck!
