I have been questioning lately the importance of the STAMINA and ENDURANCE meters so I decided to do some research. I first went to the HELP section on the stable page and found this:
STAMINA - This factor determines how quickly horses will recover from hard training and how well its stats will hold up during a race.
ENDURANCE - Some horses will perform best running longer races. Some will prefer to race in sprints. Endurance controls this factor by determining how far a horse can carry its speed.

...and then I went to THUNDER's article "Mastering The Meters (Part 1) and found this:
"If the horse is a front runner, Stamina needs to be high on longer races. I haven't had a horse that runs better with Endurance being 100. This meter affects its recovery rate i.e. how quickly Fitness will return after a race/workout. This hasn't affected mine except for the odd occurrence when I have had to work them with Endurance less than 95, which can bring back adverse results on the other meters (especially Fitness)."

...These two sources of information are conflicting.

I obviously have my own theory on the importance of the meters. I was just looking for some more input.

    Thanks,
    Zac

I can't figure how how important they are. I've had the meter all at 100 except for endurance in 6f race and still came in 9th place.

I'm still trying to figure it out.

It's best explained in the help section. I'll copy it here.

      9a - Your Horse's Characteristics

Each horse has its own unique characteristics. The list below will give you an explanation of each and how you may maximize its' performance.
Fitness - The most important factor in deciding how close to optimum performance your horse will run. This meter should be at 100% for optimal race performance. NOTE:The first sign that you are over training or over racing your horse is that the fitness meter will begin to drop when you train the horse. Usually a days rest from work will stop the meter from dropping.

Speed - Some horses will like to race on or near the lead while others will take a while to get going. Try and use a jockey that suits your horses' running style.
Stamina - This factor determines how quickly horses will recover from hard training and how well its stats will hold up during a race.
Strength - Some horses are affected by the random factor more than others. Strength determines the amount of this effect.
Endurance - Some horses will perform best running longer races. Some will prefer to race in sprints. Endurance controls this factor by determining how far a horse can carry its speed.Note: The meters for these four characteristics are a reflection of your training regimen not the actual numbers for the horses abilities. These actual numbers are not viewable.

      Hope that helps. Good Luck...
