I have noticed with the start of the new season that numerous horses from numerous stables seem to be able to work horses on two days rest that are apparently at 100% for each work. Are these stables resting horse one day and galloping the next? All articles I have read refer to LPG as the solution to keeping a horse fit yet there seems to be a better method that others employ. I am also confused as to why I seem to be having trouble with the strength meter on several of my horses. What am I doing wrong?
One other item also is confusing as I don't get the effect of the different paces of the gallops as only the LPG seems to have a positive effect.
Not really trying to get people to tell me their secrets but a good hint might help as I enjoy the site and have bought a few nags from most of you guys. Thanks

    Hey falcon

If you want get MSN messenger and put s_rracing@hotmail.com, thats my handle on there. Ritchie and I are always around talking this game. So you can get in on the discussion if you want. Basiclly when we started out we put our heads together and learn what works and what doesn't.

Falcon, if you want a few free horses to experiment on, let me know. I would be happy to provide you a few nags which you can use to see how meters react to different training meters and methods.

            Regards,

All you need is the speed to be 100 and the rest of the meters 95 or higher.

I have been winning races with just that !

                SPEED IS THE KEY.
You can beat a race, but you can't beat the races !

I've found that after longer races the middle meters are down lower than normal. I've recently started a rotation of 9f-dirt-lpg, 2f-turf-mrg, 11f-dirt-lpg. This tends to get better meters after longer races or horses with low stamina. For horses that come back with the middle meters in the low 80s, I usually gow with 2 lpgs. I have a couple of horses who are redy to race after two training sessions.

I'm also anal about the numbers when I nominate. I ususally won't go unless speed, stamina and fitness are all at 100. I can't say that my strike rate reflects any genius in this though.

What Killer said is true but I can guarantee there are as many different ways of bringing up the meters as there are stables. The lazy man's approach is 2 x lpg no matter what the meters are after a race. If SPD and FIT are 100, that is good enough for me, as long as the other 3 meters are 95+. They are entered in the next suitable race. Just make sure you have a rest day for the horse before its next race. On raceday, give it a lpg straight after the race and a lpg the following day and voila! it normally is ready to run again. Enter it in the next suitable race.... take your partner and do-si-do.

After a workout, give it a rest day followed by 2 x lpg's. You'll find you won't have as much grief with pesky meters. Most horses can handle 3 x lpg's in a row as long as they have rested beforehand, therefore if STM/STR/END is less than 95, give it another lpg to peak ready for the next selected race.

As you gain experience and subject to having no time constraints, you may notice that some horses respond better to slightly different distance/surface lpg's. Taking notes on each horse would be of great benefit. Like anything in life, the more time (and money) you put into the game determines how successful you will be in this game.

                      Hope this helps
