Very much like the sound of your model. As I mentioned a few days ago, drives me crazy to see 2 year olds flying around the track like they do at what appears to be full potential. I don't even want to see any track records out of 3 year olds until at least midway through their 3 year old seasons.

Love the thought of horses getting better with "Proper" training and age. Would also like to see the effects of gelding a horse become a part of the game. Most real life horses respond well to being gelded where at DD it really doesn't seem to matter. Nice piece. Can't wait to read the next parts.SAL

"If I were King".....
Despite what Carl says.... I would be having 2 stable apprentices, and oh yes they would look just like J-LO and Jessica Alba
You would also have your own set of stable colrs that all your horses raced in.
You would get reports back from a jockey after a race.
And there would be more non-claiming maidens for 2yos!!
Did i mention J-LO
and Jessica
?

I may wrong but I still think there is some sort of progression going on. My worthless 3yr olds seem a little faster this yr.
I do like the idea of equipment for issues. Like my bad breakers may want blinkers, or those lugging out in the stretch. Maybe close losers may want shadow rolls. Tough tie to help with breathing and maybe last longer, like for those quitting or tiring badly.Ray

My wish list....
2yo races - non-claiming sprint maidens only for the first 3 weeks. Introduce the claimers and a progression of distances over the following weeks.
3yo - a build-up of 3yo stakes races in the latter part of the season culminating in a D/D Derby over 10F near season end.
4yo+ - mixed gender races. fillies/mares take on the stallions/geldings.
Starter Allowances - weight handicap races dependent upon prizemoney won.
A weekly/bi-weekly novelty race - These have been well supported in the past but they are few and far between. Some further examples... a greys only race, a same sire only race, prizemoney won restricted event, a maiden for horses that haven't placed in 10 career starts etc etc etc
I agree with TR's 2yo progression system. The ones we have at the moment are running Open Class times from day 1 and it allows no tolerance for improvement which would be a more realistic situation.THUNDER

I tried to stay away from the really nit-picky stuff, like "more races for etc. etc," I know when I tried to create an idea for a game it was really easy to get bogged down in details. The problem is, these deatails are critical to making the game work correctly. I don't know squat about programing (I did take a basic programming class in the 80's but I think it's a little outdated), But I did try to work out some of the mathematics involved.
I also stayed away from the silks issue because I know that's on the burner here. I think part two is the game mechanics. It's all just to fuel some conversation and to give Carl more stuff to consider
On the two year old issue, since they don't race against older horses the times don't really have an impact (other than the records). The big thing for me is the potential for any horse to keep getting better, even if the percentages make it unlikely.

I would like to second the above thoughts on more non-claiming maiden races, mixed gender races and novelty races plus an auction system (live or not) for the sale of the horses.
We also however need to keep in mind that some of the progression scenarios might be harder to implement programming wise on top of the current code.

Even if the viewer is not entirely new, I think something needs to be done about the exagerrated gate bias. I think I understand the problem. When an outside horse makes the lead on this viewer, he essentially zig zags his way to the rail (his body doesn't actually angle and dart to the rail), but we all know the straightest line is the shortest. I understand that limitations may exist that prevent simulating how the horse actually cuts over. But at least in effect, we can reach the same result by altering how much "distance" it takes to move laterally, so even though the race will appear the same, the exaggerated fatigue/stamina/endurance drain will disappear. Hopefully this will make some sense to the programmer; and of course, it's just my opinion.

in my opinion our viewer is great of course the problem with outside horses but if i see any of my horses with an outside post i scratch and get half of my entry fee and wait for another day...the good thing the viewer you do not have to download anything and it is just as realistic as any of them out thereRITCHIE
