  • Deadheats?

If 2 horses have the same exact time isn't that a deadheat and the money should be divided as such. If it is a deadheat for the win, then the purse for 1st and 2nd are divided equally. If it is place then the place and show are divided and so on. Since the time is down to the 100's place that is pretty acurate. Why is DD not considering this? Is it a programing issue?
    Just wondering.

    ..

    Joe,

Carl addressed this question once before...apparently the times go much further down the decimal line than what we see. So just because they have the same time down to the 100th of a second, doesn't mean that it was a dead heat.

At least that's what I remember Carl saying once.

Favorite Trick's case for Horse of the Year in 1997 --

"He lacks the physical stature of Easy Goer. He hasn’t the sheer brilliance of Seattle Slew. And his pedigree is hardly cut from the same royal cloth as Secretariat’s. Despite these "inadequacies", Favorite Trick, a truly special Thoroughbred, has accomplished more than any two-year-old colt in the forty-five years since Native Dancer won all nine of his races en route to the 1952 championship."

I seem to remember the same thing..

So when two horses finish with 58.27 for example,

What you don't see is that they were 58.275 & 58.279.

Down To 1ooth Is Close Enough

If They Are Not Going To Show Down To 1000th

Then The (dead Heat) Should Be At The 100th Time !!!!!!!!
You can beat a race, but you can't beat the races !

I agree... but alas do not create or make/change the rules.

Try putting your argument forward in the Technical Help section maybe?
