As we close out Season 32, some accolades and awards are due to some deserving trainers. So, without further ado, let's dole out some awards!
- Trainer of the Season - Taylor and Taryn - Stealing the trophy from the seemingly tight Kung-Fu Grip of the venerable Foggydan Farms, who earns honorable mention in perhaps 4 or 5 categories for his selfless and generous approach to Season 32. TNT fought the seemingly insurmountable foggy lead for 2 months, and cracks began to form around month #3. As the final month of the season approached, TnT entries grew, while Foggy entries seemed to ebb, on occasion with between 0, 2 or 3 entries on a race card. TnT took advantage, nominating his quality into 15-20 races per card or more, and caught Dan at the 1/8th pole for the win. Honorable mention to Foggydan Farms for setting an amazing precedent over the last 6-7 months. BIG round of applause to his efforts all!
- Rookie of the Season - Flip Farms - 11th place in the clubhouse, in his rookie season, and over 115 wins and a 16.50% win percentage from a trainer who literally knew zero about Digital Downs 4 months ago. Simply amazing. Honorable mention to The White Rabbit, who is on the fence to maintain his eligibility for this award next season, as I will have to review the data. If he stays under 250 runs and 50 wins, he will be eligible for the award next season, and will probably run away with it! GREAT job Flip Farms - you are evolving into an instant veteran!
- Comeback Trainer of the Season - Blue Chip Farms - Easy to inherit the likes of a legend like Trunoble, but as the 2nd President of the United States once quipped, "Facts are Stubborn Things", and the stubborn facts are that Blue Chip went from 24th to 8th place in the standings. Well done friend- you earned it big time!
- Most Improved Trainer of the Season - Orb Farms - I hesitate to grant myself an award, but when flirting with a win percentage that bobs over and under 33.00% daily, I believe that it is only legitimate that this award feels appropriate in its self-granting. Orb Farms more then doubled his exactly 200 win rookie season, now sitting on 456 wins, and an astonishing 52.5% of his horses finish 1st or 2nd. The only fear here for Orb Farms is that with this season's ceiling reached, next season might seem like a disappointment regardless of outcome. Historic season for the sophomore trainer. Honorable mention to Polaris Bloodstock, who nearly will reach the coveted 100 Wins milestone this season - Well done Polaris!!!
- Ambassador of the Game - Season Award - Cold Dog Soup Stables - Taking on Chat moderator responsibilities, stepping in during the mysterious absence of Toc that was finally announced, CDDS more than performed the functions of "right-hand man for Lone", answering questions and moderating the forums, while still running his own stable, creating contests, doling out passwords, and sending reminders to stables nearing deadlines. You earned this award, and we all are a better site because of your efforts.
- Living Legend - Season Award - Foggydan Farms - The man, the myth, the legend took his share of abuse, and for what? He took it for being the BEST at what he did for nearly a calendar year. He has ensconced himself into Digital Downs lore, and only the future will dictate how the next season will turn out? Will Foggy step back on the gas pedal, or will he pull back and circle the wagons? Either way, not only did he dominate the likes of which we have not seen since Toc....He bought private horses, auction horses, GAVE away 30+ GOOD horses for $.01 to nearly every owner on the site, and continues to pile up career wins, now 6th all time with over 2800 wins.
Other trainers, Star of the Desert, Royal Oaks, and others do so much for the game, and no one is left out here, but this is Season 32's version of my awards.
Congratulations to the winners,
